Fox Tail Brewing
Adventures in home brewing
Sparked from a true passion for the art of brewing, Fox Tail Brewing is a passionate hobby project!
It all started during Covid! I wanted to pick up a new hobby...so I started to read about brewing. The grist, the hops, the yeast and even down to the water profile, I found the entire topic fascinating.
Who’d have thought that so much went into a pint of beer!
I invested in the fantastic MiniBrew system which I can’t praise enough. It’s a great product and allows you to brew fresh and clean beer whilst learning the steps! You get to imagine you're own recipes and the beer you make is fantastic.
As I became more familiar with the brewing process I moved to the Grainfather G30v3 with two conical fermenters and the GC2 Glycol Chiller, and on occasion I user a Pinter for small batch all grain experiments.

Our Beers
The below are some of my beers.
I don't tend to bottle or can many anymore, they all go into kegs, then into the Kegerator
Don't Hug The Cactus
5%
Made at Stewart Brewing in Edinburgh, these Hazy IPAs really demonstrated the difference that hops and yeast have in beer.

House Stout
4%
It looks like the famous Irish brand, but it's not!
This stout is always available in the Fox in the Garden.
I always take around 10% of the batch and sour ferment it before adding it back into the fermenter before kegging. You get that tang that's famous in Ireland.
Foxy Rebel
4.5%
This is a surprise package of a beer. Very dark and VERY flavoursome!
These never last long when it's brewed, but if you can resist, it tastes even better if you let it age for a month!!

Summer Fox
3.4%
My first lower alcohol brew. Coming in at around 3.4%, makes it the ideal summer BBQ session ale!
Made with Mosiac and Mandarina hops it has a slight orange flavour to it.
Foxy Moves
4.6%
This is an American IPA is brewed using chinook and mosiac hops, partner those with Melanoiden Malt, Pilsner Malt and Maris Otter Pale Ale malt and you have yourself a VERY nice American IPA
Cherry Beer
6%
No wacky fox related name for this beer, as this one one of the first beers that I every brewed. Experimenting with cherry powder in the mash was a fun and colourful thing to do.
This beer has some nice sharp cherry flavouring which comes through at the tail end of drinking.
Made mostly with pilsner malt and some citra hops to give it some extra fruity flavours.
My Breweries
As I said, I started with the MiniBrew system and brewed there for a year or so.
I then moved to a larger brewery by buying the Grainfather G30, 2 fermenters and a glycol chiller.

Astonishingly clever machine that turns fresh ingredients into consistently amazing and fresh craft beers!

Merch
Totally not for sale, but a very fun part of the home brewing hobby, designing your brand and putting some merch together.

T-Shirt
I love wearing this shirt to be honest, it's printed on the front and the back.
Like I said, it's only for fun.
